Melissa wanted to become involved in the development of the association in Alberta, to enhance collaboration within all sectors of emergency management, support the building of a safe community of practice and a learning platform for all who may be involved in an emergency/disaster event to get to know and grow together before an event. Melissa is passionate about developing leaders, with a special commitment to those just entering the field to those wishing to progress their career from entry level to middle and senior management. Melissa feels that an inclusive community like AAEM and strong mentors is what contributed to her growth and accomplishments throughout her career in Emergency Management.
